The environmental activists protesting for the protection of the green areas in Yerevan’s Mashtots Park have issued a statement, reaffirming their intention to what the police orders and dismantle the kiosks in the park.
The campaigners say particularly that the police cannot hinder their efforts to re-establish justice in the country. In the meantime, they characterize their protest action as an attempt to perform their civic duties.
“Every one of us who had previously notified the police of the civil disobedience, and resorted to it is deeply convinced that he performs his civic duties by disobeying the representatives of authorities, and is ready to resort to violence to exercise his rights, ignoring possible punitive and/or repressive actions by the state,” reads the statement.
