Armenian vice-premier receives CIS Executive Council Sec.

Armenian Vice-Premier Armen Gevorgyan, who is a CIS Economic Council member, received on Monday Secretary of the CIS Executive Council Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Armenia on the occasion of celebrations of Yerevan World Book Capital City 2012.
Lebedev made a high appraisal of the festive events, pointing out the Armenia authorities’ special attention. He wished success to the program and noted that Armenia is the first of the CIS member-countries to carry out this mission. Minister Gevorgyan expressed hope that the festive events, which are to last for a year, will give new impetus to the development of book printing and foster love for books in the young generation.
The sides also touched on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia. Minister Gevorgyan noted that Armenia’s authorities are doing their utmost for the elections to be held at a high level and meet democratic standards. Specifically, Armenia’s new election law ensures equal conditions for all political forces. The sides expressed hope for further positive tendencies. Lebedev reported that the CIS observer mission is monitoring the election campaign.
