Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday received Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, and discussed the public concerns with respect election bribes—in the run-up to the forthcoming National Assembly elections—and gave related instructions.
“The key challenge of every state is to neutralize such unwanted influence and to secure the organization and conduct of free and fair elections,” Sargsyan said.
He stressed that additional measures need to be taken.
As per the President, one of the priorities of the competent authorities must be to excuse those bribe takers from criminal liability in the cases when they voluntarily inform the law enforcement agencies about such facts and assist in solving the crime.
