Leader of Armenia’s Christian-Democratic Party Khosrov Harutyunyan, running for parliament with the Republican Party of Armenia, said the 2012 pre-electoral campaign is of ‘absolutely new quality’.
‘Sometimes parties slam each other but it is of no significance. I would like the positive background to remain,’ Harutyunyan said at the meeting with reporters today.
According to Khosrov Harutyunyan, authorities and the television promote the formation of the positive environment. The television presents facts in a very correct way.
‘The positive background shows the high level of subconsciousness of the main forces engaged in the political race. But I think the closer we approach the finish the hotter the passions will be and we may probably witness tough steps,’ Harutyunyan voiced his concern, at the same time voicing hope that such developments will not have any impact on the outcome of elections.
Asked to comment on the fact of hindering the campaign of candidate Nikol Pashinyan, Harutyunyan said it is not a widespread phenomenon, ‘it was a separate case. I regret for such things. But party is one thing, activity of candidate’s headquarters another.’
