National Gallery festival to kick off in Armenia.

The 8th international music festival National Gallery is to kick off on Saturday.
Art her Friday meeting with journalists, one of the festival organizers Mariam Shahinyan noted that the 2012 year festival will be held at the Komitas house of music. The reason is that Armenia’s National Gallery is participating in the Yerevan World Book Capital City 2012 events.
“We are proud to provide our premises for festivities,” Shahinyan said.
Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Armenia Artur Poghosyan pointed out a number of goals of the National Gallery international festival: presenting Armenian and international composers’ works to Armenian society performed by skilled musicians.
“This festival seems to be a complement to various arts. Society has the opportunity to listen to beautiful music and get acquainted with other arts,” she said.
The festival program envisages six concert series. Among the performers are the world-famous pianist Boris Berman, Honored Artist of Armenia Armen Babakhanyan, Suliko soloist group from the Tbilisi Opera.
Shahinyan said that Boris Berman plans to hold master classes at Yerevan Conservatoire.
The composer Eduard Mirzoyan, who is advisor to the festival organizers, said that he is happy about the traditional festival.
The festival is being held with the sponsorship of the VivaCell-MTS.
