If the elections were on this Sunday, the 40.6% of the population would have voted for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Some 32.6% would give preferences to the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), 6.5% to the Heritage, 5.4% to the Rule of Law party, 5% to the ARF, 4.3% to the ANC, 1.9% to the Democratic party and 0.1 to the United Armenians, the poll conducted by the European Friends of Armenia suggests.
It is the second survey conducted by the organization on the threshold of elections. Hovhannes Grigoryan, director of Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting (IPSC), which collaborated with the European Friends of Armenia in conduction of the poll, said 1600 respondents participated in the survey conducted between April 17-22.
Some 62% of the respondents said the most convincing campaign is being carried out by the PAP, followed by the RPA – 47%, Rule of Law party – 21%, Heritage – 18%, ARF – 15%, ANC -8%, Communist party -5%, Democratic party 2% and United Armenians - 1%.
Some 73% said they would go to the polls. About 13% said they would probably go to the polls, 3% said they have not decided yet. Some 8% answered they would not go to the polls at all, 3% would not probably go to the polls.
As to pre-electoral program preferences, 79% of respondents said they would vote for the Communist party’s program, 78% for the ARF’s program. Some 50% said they liked the RPA’s program, 49% liked the PAP’s, 56% the Heritage party’s. Some 46% said they liked the program of the Rule of Law party and 48% the ANC’s.
The respondents were also asked about the majority system candidates. The survey showed the RPA would have 20 majority seats in the parliament, the PAP would have 3, the Rule of Law party two, the ANC one. Four would be from other parties. Eleven majority MPs remained unknown.
