Chairman of the Armenian National Movement’s administration, Aram Manukyan, running for parliament at the # 4 election district, told the reporters today that people manage to overcome the atmosphere of fear during the election campaign.
‘Yesterday’s Vanadzor meeting was quite impressive. It reminded 1988 rallies. Activation is being noticed, and I see the main guarantee of excluding the frauds in it,’ he said, reminding that the last rally of the ANC is scheduled on May 3 in Yerevan.
Referring to the health condition of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, he said after the long way he had fluctuations of pressure and is under doctor’s control. ‘There is nothing serious. We hope he will participate in coming May 3 rally,’ he said.
Asked how he assesses the chances of the ANC to appear in the parliament, he said, ‘The ANC has the chances to be the first. The Republican party does not have chances to be even the third or the forth. In case of free and transparent elections the ANC will gather 50+1% votes,’ the candidate stressed.
Aram Manukyan said there are more than 80 millionaires in the parliament today and as many people who have not uttered a word and do not know what parliamentarism is.
‘It is our people’s tragedy. The parliament is filled with people who are called there to vote for this or that issue. If people fail to send literate people to the parliament it will be the end,’ he said, adding that if normal people be sent to parliament, Armenia will win.
The opposition bloc ANC discovered the names of 150 people, who had died fifteen years ago, in the voters’ list of capital Yerevan’s Arabkir Administrative Region, Aram Manukyan said referring to the election lists.
“The law states that the adjusting of the lists must end five days before [the elections]. But no matter how much they [the Police Passport and Visa Department] work, they cannot have a 100-percent efficiency,” stated Manukyan.
He added that in these lists the average number of those who are currently outside Armenia is 15-20 percent, and those living abroad were not considered to be absent from Armenia.
Aram Manukyan also informed that, according to their election headquarters, those who have left the country for outside work were not counted either, and the authorities had solely registered the number of those who are absent from Armenia for a long time, and this is 20 percent.
