All the political forces realize that there will be a serious struggle during the upcoming parliamentary elections, Armenian opposition member said.
Lyudmila Sargsyan, running for parliament from Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc, said that people are in a state of indifference as their vote had never been decisive.
Sargsyan considers that ANC’s role is to make people realize that they are deciding the outcome of the elections.
“Elections are a turning point when people have to decide whether they want criminals in the parliament or those representing their interests,” she added. According to her, if there are political forces ANC can form majority with, they will do it.
As regards ANC- Prosperous Armenia cooperation, Lyudmila Sargsayn assured their interests coincide only in relation to a single headquarters to monitor the elections.
Lyudmila Sargsyan believes this year’s election campaign is much more active than previous ones.
“It is common knowledge the competition is severe. Public sentiments are different. Votes have never been decisive in any elections,” Lyudmila Sargsyan told journalists on Wednesday.
“Our priority task was to liven up the people. If they take an active part in the voting, their votes will prove decisive for final results,” she said.
The ANC’s election campaign, critical assessments and election program livened up the people.
“They are well aware it must be a landmark election. I think this entire process suggests the ANC will most seriously be represented in Armenia’s new parliament,” Lyudmila Sargsyan said.
With respect to shortcomings of the election campaign, she said that people are more and more often facing intimidation.
“There are serious inaccuracies in voters’ lists. Armenia’s authorities do not agree to post-election publication of voters’ lists, which means they have something to hide,” Lyudmila Sargsyan said.
Moreover, the upcoming parliamentary elections inaugurate the presidential election. So Armenia’s next parliament will prove decisive for what will be Armenia’s next president.
