The United Nations General Assembly declared May 3 the World Press Freedom Day on December 20, 1993.

The 27th article of the Armenian Constitution states that everyone has the right of freedom of expression. It is prohibited to force someone to refuse one’s opinion or change it. Everyone has the right of freedom of speech, the right to research information and ideas, to receive and spread information by any means.

Media freedom is guaranteed.
