The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) held its final election campaign rally in Yerevan’s Freedom Square.
The ANC leaders spoke at the rally.
In his speech, Armenia’s first president, ANC Chairman Levon Ter-Petrosyan said: “It is time to realize that the election results depend on society’s active participation. It is clear that the more voters participate the more difficult it is to rig the elections, particularly using citizens’ absence from the country. We must not allow indifferent people that lost confidence in elections to decide the country’s fate. Only citizens that feel responsible for their country can demand the same from the authorities.”
If the line-up of power in Armenia’s future parliament proves favorable, the people will be able to form a new coalition, which will replace the pseudo-coalitions, with the Republican Party of Armenia (PPA) playing the first fiddle, and its partners the second and third ones. The ANC does not rule out its involvement in the future coalition. However, it categorically rules out any cooperation with the RPA and Rule of Law party, which are “the greatest evil for our country.”
“Dear compatriots,
“You have no right to mistake. If you display civil consciousness and make the right choice you can make May 6 a crucial day in restoring constitutional order, improving social and economic conditions in the country. You may never have such a chance any more. You do not have to sacrifice anything – only free voting. Do not believe the lies that your will be watched while in polling booths. Such a thing may never happen. We are heading for victory and cannot lose it. Believe, it’s not going to be our - opposition’s victory, but it’s going to be your victory, victory of Armenia’s citizens, all the Armenians.”
