Stepan Demirtchyan, leader of Armenia’s People’s Party, making part of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, said there was no intrigue in the interview of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan given to Mediamax news agency.
‘There was no intrigue in what he said. He understands quite well that no one needs his advice, he stressed it in his interview as well,’ Stepan Demirtchyan said.
Referring to the parliamentary elections, he noted that he sees positive tendencies only in media coverage. ‘Unfortunately, the election bribes are becoming widely spread,’ he stressed.
Stepan Demirtchyan said the situation in provinces and villages is disastrous and the country needs equal development.
‘Nevertheless people tie hopes with the elections. First of all they hope the ANC will win and free them from the current authorities,’ Demirtchyan said.
The party’s leader said he is sure the ANC will have a weighty place in the future parliament and yesterday’s rally came to prove it.
‘People are disappointed from the elections but during the past two weeks qualitative changes have been registered. But I should note that free elections and these authorities are incompatible phenomena,’ he said.
Stepan Demirtchyan said all the eight political forces are ANC’s contenders but the main contender is the Republican Party of Armenia, as in his words, this party is responsible for the situation created in the country.
