Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan stated today that the fact of the fair conduction of parliamentary elections has been confirmed, though 2.5 million USD election bribes were distributed. He said the elections passed legally, but the high turnout of voters is disputable.
‘The expectations of conduction of free elections have come true but the high voter turnout raises doubts,’ Adibekyan said.
According to the sociologist, the poor health condition of Levon Ter-Petrosyan negatively affected the number of votes of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) while the explosion of gas balloons during the ruling Republican party’s concert-rally has not influenced the votes of the RPA.
Aharon Adibekyan said there is no need to humiliate Armenian voters, as only small number of them took the bribes. The sociologist presented his calculations, saying that if many people had taken money it would have made 1 million USD for each constituency, thus making 41 million USD in all, which the sociologist said is impossible to distribute. ‘Overall 2.5 million USD were distributed,’ Adibekyan said.
