US ambassador on Armenian parliamentary elections.

The U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern says the May 6 parliamentary elections have registered considerable progress in Armenia.

Talking to RFE/RL's Armenian Service, he said the Embassy was attentively following the election process. He said the progress was registered in some key fields. Particularly, he pointed out the work of media and transparency at electoral districts.

"Members of electoral commissions were well-prepared. Besides, there were cameras in almost all precincts," John Heffern said.

However, the U.S. Ambassador also said there were certain shortcomings and the Embassy is also working with the government to eliminate the existing problems.
