G8 countries call for Syrian peace.

The voice of Russia - The leaders of the G8 countries call for an end to bloodshed in Syria and are foursquare behind the peace roadmap, proposed by UN and Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.
The participants voiced profound concern over the loss of human lives, the humanitarian crisis and serious human rights violations in Syria and demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities that imperil the civilian population.
The G8 countries are holding out for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Syria. US President Barack Obama stressed this point when opening Saturday’s meeting of his colleagues from the word’s most economically advanced states at his Camp David retreat in Maryland.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s point man on Syria, Mikhail Margelov, went on record saying that the Syrian conflict defied quick fixes as the country was a key player in the Middle East peace process.
Global economy, energy, climate change, food security and global political problems were also high on the agenda of the two-day summit at Camp David. The next G8 meeting will be held in Britain in 2013.
