LURER.com received an alert signal a couple of hours ago that the construction at 106/1 Nalbandyan in Yerevan restarted after being officially terminated last year.
An eye-witness reports from the ground that "Avag Shin" LLC has been taking to the site building techniques since 6:00 am. The company is going to distort the urban landscape of the Armenian capital, and start new construction at the expense of the capital's dwindling green spaces, damaging trees and undermining the bases of nearby buildings.
Under N18-08/1-K-402 decision dated May 23, 2011, the Yerevan Municipality did not approve the project for a new residential apartment building, saying the construction paperwork was not drafted or agreed upon.
Earlier, Avag Shin posted a schematic of what the new "multi-functional" building, replete with underground parking, will look like. Environmental activists and urban planners in Yerevan have been voicing their concerns that if the high-rise is built it will block out any air and sunlight to the surrounding buildings. Local residents have continually protested the destruction of the school and the surrounding trees. They have sent letters to various government officials and staged demonstration.
