State Secretary Hilary Clinton Present at Human Rights Defenders’ Award Ceremony

US State Secretary Hilary Clinton was present at the award ceremony dedicated to general rights organized by the US Embassy in Armenia in cooperation with “Counterpart International” organization, British Embassy, OSCE and EU offices. The ceremony was dedicated to human rights defenders and the ones who encourage accountable governemnt and free speech in Armenia.

This statement was issued by the US Embassy in Armenia emphasizing that Clinton welcomed the participants and had separate meetings with award winners.

The statement reads that this is the first common initiative by international organizations aimed at presenting contributions of civil society activists, state figures and mass media representatives to the improvement of human rights sector in Armenia.
