Recent Actions on Armenia-Azerbaijan Frontline are Worrisome: Vardan Oskanian
Armenia
PAP MP, former Foreign Affairs Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanyan on his Facebook wall has made some posts about the recent actions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. In this regard he wrote:
The recent actions on Armenia-Azerbaijan frontline are worrisome. It is more worrisome when one of the mediating states’ representative – U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton is in the region.
In general, the maintenance of the 1994 ceasefire conduced to two things: a) realistic perspective of resolving the conflict through negotiations; b) military balance on both sides of the border.
As always the frontline incidents have become more frequent especially during the suspension of the prospect of negotiations or when the enemy has presumed it has more military advantage on its side.
Today, the main concern is that one the one hand Azerbaijan seemingly losing its trust towards the peaceful resolution of the conflict with its unrealistic and maximalist demands; and on the other hand, starts to believe in its military advantage by making belligerent statements and spending immense amount of money on munitions.
The Armenian side should give an appropriate response both diplomatically and militarily to ensure that Azerbaijan quits believing in illusions.
