Only Democratic Armenia Can Force Azerbaijan to Seek Ways for Peaceful Regulation of Karabakh Conflict. Levon Zurabyan

Levon Zurabyan, ANC Coordinator, ANC faction representative speaking about latest incidents on Armenian-Azerbaijani borderline, which began during the US State Secretary’s regional visit, stated that this may be mere coincidence or a political massage to Armenia and international community in the form of military actions showing that Azerbaijan does not want to abide with status quo and threatens to solve the conflict by military actions.

In a conversation with “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun” daily Zurabyan stated that maybe the counter action of Armenian side was adequate, but according to him “Armenia’s reaction has not been adequate during the last 20 years.”

“We pay for the 20 years of incompetent policy. Election violations, criminal-oligarchic regime, poor economic development, immigration and terrible situation in the army are only conducing audacity of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan does not have any stimulus or interest in peaceful regulation of Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan believes that it is getting stronger day by day due to oil incomes, strategic military purchases. Only democratic and strong Armenia can force Azerbaijan to seek ways for peaceful regulation of Karabakh conflict, which does not exist yet. Thus, even if the government undertakes adequate activities, it cannot justify the devastating policy conducted for the last 20 years.” noted Zurabyan.
