President Serzh Sargsyan’s Official Visit to Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Serzh Sargsyan who is in Socialist Republic of Vietnam on state visit visited the monument of fallen heroes and put a wreath on June 8. The meeting of President Serzh Sargsyan and Truong Tang Sang took place which was followed by ceremony of signing documents on development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Vietnam. Several documents relating economic, trade, scientific and technical issues, as well as protocol on cooperation between Foreign affairs ministries of Armenia and Vietnam have been signed.

After the signing ceremony leaders of two states had a meeting with representatives of Mass Media summarizing the results of the negotiations.

Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Truong Tang Sang highlighted that Vietnam and Armenia have traditionally close relations and dynamically developing political dialogue, successfully cooperate in framework of international organizations, but the level of economic relations does not correspond yet to the level of political relations.

Presidents of Armenia and Vietnam stressed the importance of creating of corresponding legal field for the development of economic relations. Two Presidents considered the signed documents as the first steps in that direction.

There was reached an arrangement to form inter-governmental conferences by two countries.

Serzh Sargsyan and Truong Tang Sang highlighted at the end of the meeting that Armenia and Vietnam have political will to develop and strengthen relations. For that aim Presidents stressed the importance of establishing diplomatic missions in two countries.

President of Vietnam thanked Armenia for the help given to Vietnam in his difficult years as well as for securing proper education for many students from Vietnam in Armenian universities. President Truong Tang Sang assured that many graduates of that universities returning to Vietnam had great contribution in the reconstruction and development of the country and continue to be useful for the country with their knowledge and experience. President Sargsyan today held a meeting in Hanoi with those who had come to capital from different parts of the country.

Vietnamese graduates thanked Armenian President for the meeting and mentioned there are more than 1000 graduates from Armenian universities who are still interested in Armenia and its developments. They shared with their emotions about Yerevan, remembered the years spent there and expressed wish to visit Armenia again.

President Sargsyan invited them to Yerevan with pleasure, introduced modern Armenia, and answered the questions of the participants.
