Seyran Ohanyan Paid Urgent Visit to Tavoush (photos)

On June 7-8, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan paid a visit to Tavoush marz. In the framework of his visit the head of the defense attended the combat positions located in Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact, got acquainted with the operational situation, moral-psychological conditions of the soldiers conducting military duty. He also checked the security and reliability of engineering structures.
Defense Minister held a working meeting with participation of commanders of army units and military subdivisions. During the Tavoush meeting Ohanyan had meetings with the civilians of bordering villages. The Minister underscored that the recent incidents occurred in the contact line once again prove that any provocation action made by Azerbaijani Armed Forces did not remain unanswered. Ohanyan also added that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia will carry out appropriate actions to prevent the enemy’ encroachments.
In the words of the Minister, it is due to the combat readiness and vigilance of the Armed Forces that the enemy was discovered, neutralized and having suffered losses, retreated. “We shall be very strict in the case enemy opens fire towards the residents of the bordering villages,” the Minister stated.
In the framework of Tavush visit the Defense Minister participated in the opening of the memorial monument erected in the school yard of village Voskevan. During the opening of the monument Karabakh war veterans were awarded with “Republic of Armenia's armed forces 20 years” jubilee medals.
Armenian Defense Minister visited the soldiers, hospitalized because of Azerbaijani diversions. He thanked them for conscientious service, bravery and wished them speedy recovery.
