Traffic Police Makes 30% of Money by Putting One Stamp
Armenia
Lately three more cameras were installed in Yerevan. Two of those were installed on both directions of Tsereteli street and another one on Halabyan street.
Today this was informed by Eduard Hovahnnisyan, the President of Achilles NGO, in charge of protections of drivers’ rights. In total, there are 20 cameras installed in Yerevan and 32 speedometers. On the upcoming days 5 more will be installed.
In his speech Eduard Hovhannisyan mentioned that 1500-2000 traffic violations are taking place in every day, which by average calculations makes approximately 35,000 AMD. In his opinion, this is definitely some kind of business as “business collaborates with tate bodies. The traffic police by putting one stamp, makes 30% of money.”
Hovhannisyan also adverted to the sign alerting of the speedometer, which had been placed incorrectly since April 20 and was covered with foliage. The police found the best solution in cutting tree branches.
