Vahe Avetyan’s Teachers Talk
Armenia
An Armenian language and literature teacher of Yerevan school #44 Anush Adilkhanyan used to be the head teacher of Vahe Avetyan’s class, who was brutally beaten up on June 17 in Harsnakar restaurant. Although two decades have passed since Vahe graduated from the school Mrs. Adilkhanyan remembers Vahe as a disciplined and excellent student. He would never get involved in adventures.
“It was a good class and the core included a few boys and one of them was Vahe. In other classes the girls would progress better in their studies; in this class we had a different picture,” says the teacher, without being able to hide her excitement. She said that she’s not the type of person to be involved in such an incident.
She cannot understand where this barbarianism comes from. Mrs. Adilkhanyan finds it hard to believe in the claims of the manager of the restaurant as though Vahe and his friends were drunk and that they had started the argument.
“I don’t expect anything like this from Vahe. I do believe that he will get better,” says Mrs. Adilkhanyan.
Margarita Hovhannisyan used to teach Vahe history in his senior year at school. Although she had spent a short time with this class but Hovhannisyan was impressed by the disciplinary behavior of Vahe.
“I think that the ones, who were involved in this brutality will get their worthy punishment,” notes the history teacher.
