Nearby Residents of Nansen Park Against Construction
Armenia
Today, the nearby residents of Nansen park held a protest action in front of the City Council of Yerevan and were complaining about construction activities there.
The residents claim that no public hearings or discussions were organized; construction site is located on green zones. Besides they have some fear that the building may be turned into a supermarket instead of a museum.
A resident Ani Kaghinyan says that the response letter of the City Council reads, “The museum building to be constructed in the park will also belong to the City Council. As a cultural house it will be used by Nansen Foundation.” Here a question comes out. If the property is going to belong to the City Council then who will be directing it? There is nothing about the owner of the building or why the museum is being constructed in a park in a green zone.
The protesters passed on their request-demand to the City Council with 600 signatures and demanded to immediately cease the construction.
