Today is Mher Mkrtchyan’s Birthday

Armenian talented actor, a great intellectual Mher Mkrtchyan was born on July 4. Today he would have turned 82.
He was just 17 when succeeded to enter theatrical world, win the sympathy of the audience and make his way to big stages. At the age of 23 he began to perform from the stage of G.Sundukyan National Academic Theater. But Mher wasn’t content with theater only, he appeared in such films, created such roles that all the people of USSR began to applaud him. There is not a single Armenian, who hasn’t admired his play, his unrevealed talent and who hasn’t loved images created by him (Arsen, Gaspar, Ishkhan, Hayrik, Amiro, Grigor agha and etc.)
As Hrant Matevosyan writes,
“He was to write for himself and he wrote; stage in and stage out his work and his life is his own big creation. If that creation stretched till now, our environment wouldn’t be so poor and evil today; if that life continued, we would be better for the world, our height - a bit higher, our eyes - a bit cleverer, our souls – light, and our hearts - open .”
Mher Mkrtchyan died in 1993. There is a house museum of Mher Mkrtchyan in Gyumri.
