I wonder why the EU Representative doesn't Visit Karabagh: Vardan Oskanyan (video)
Political
Today Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, PAP member Vardan Oskanyan during the interview with reporters, referring to CE president Herman Van Rompuy’s speech at NA noted that the issue before us is very clear- this European processes should be accelerated and a lot depends on us. "Today Armenia’s issue is to integrate into European structures as soon as possible because it is necessary for us in terms of both state formation and economic development. Sadly in that processes we are going to yield our neighbors or other countries of the same state. At best we are in the 4th place; Georgia, Moldova, and the Ukraine are ahead of us. We are competing with Azerbaijan: our opponent should be Georgia. Very soon we must be in the first rows, since we truly need it. But sadly the democratic processes are running so slow in Armenia, that I think it was a clear message from the EU when the donors’ meeting was postponed until the presidential elections. So, today there is a great responsibility on us, on our authorities concerning the acceleration of these processes. Naturally, being in Armenia, EU president must speak of positive things, but there were very clear messages in his speech, that whatever is being done in Armenia is not enough, it needs to be speed up,” Oskanyan noted.
PAP member also pointed out an incident that had occurred after Rompuy’s speech, which was strange and unacceptable for him. "MPs or at least each of the parties were not given the opportunity to ask questions. And that was done in a very drastic and rude manner, which in my opinion left bad impression both on Mr. Rompuy and on the members of European delegation. I think that MPs had questions today the clarification of which would be useful first of all for Armenia, and secondly an open discussion would leave good impression on EU president and other members of the delegation. Today we lost a big opportunity, simply because of the fact, that NA authorities didn’t agree for us to ask questions.
I wonder why the EU representative doesn’t visit Karabagh. To think that MPs could raise such questions that would be bad for the authorities does not make up a democracy and all the parties are furious,” said Oskanyan.
