Lori Office of HRD Staff also Participates in the Defense of Teghut

The mining project processing In forests of Teghut, the ecological, economic and health hazards threatening the forests of Teghut, alternative ways of saving the forest and such other issues and problems were discussed in the meeting of the Civic Assembly of Helsinki organized in Vanadzor office on June 30. Arthur Sukiasyan- Defender Lori regional office worker and members of the civic initiative for defense of Teghut participated in the discussion.
Arthur Sukiasyan presented one of the most painful issues concerning the Teghut case, when in Teghut and Shnogh rural communities on the respective decision of the Government, lands exclusively recognized as major public benefits were bought from the peasants with much lower prices than the market value is, and presented the omissions concerning the applications filed to the European Court of Human Rights.
As a result of negotiations, among the opportunities of solving the Teghut problem, saving the forest of Teghut under the pressure of Social opinion was highlighted, and problem awareness and publication were considered important conditions for this.
