Speaking of Religious Affiliation of Donors is Unacceptable: Salbi Ghazaryan

"The tax check-ups are going on, today is the 9th day, and according to the law the check-ups will go on for 15 days in a row. The Foundation's lawyer, Artur Grigoryan, will enter the court with a request to eliminate the NSS’s decision, based on which a criminal case was proceeded. 9-day inspections have not found anything, and we are convinced that will not, because they are completely absent,” Salbi Ghazaryan, Director of “Civilitas” Foundation said in the meeting with journalists.
In response to the question how can she clarify Alexander Amaryan’s announcement that “Civilitas” Foundation received enormous donations from Mormons , she said:
“Ask him why he announced so. The foundation is financed by donors belonging to different regions, who sponsor not “Civilitas” but its projects. Until now not a single donor has complained and they continue to cooperate with us. It’s unacceptable when we speak of not donor’s activities but their regional affiliation.”
According to lawyer Arthur Gevorgyan, chances in the court are not estimated high, because the entire court investigative system should try to, as possible, justify the bases of the criminal case.
"We fight not to prove the innocence, but to remove the processed criminal accusation, and the removal of the criminal accusation will be an unprecedented step in Armenian trial system. If the trial process continues then we’ll decide the sequence of further steps. The criminal case was proceeded underlining the following circumstances: a business was done, the enormous profit of which had to be given to the Foundation, but according to NSS only a part of it was transferred. Turns out that the Foundation is being accused in money laundering,” The Foundation lawyer states.
Salbi Ghazaryan thinks that there is an aim to shadow the Foundation, and the processing of the criminal has a political implication.
“If the case is not suspended, then we maintain firmly the idea that there is a political persecution. I did not testify, because if NSS must interrogate us as suspects, I even have the right not to go to the interrogation, as Vardan Oskanyan did after the first interrogation,” concluded Director of the foundation.
