Kofi Annan Visits Moscow on June 17

Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 17, will meet the United Nations (UN) and the Arab league Special Representative Kofi Annan- the press service of Kremlin reports.
"In the upcoming meeting Russia will, once again, confirm its support to Kofi Annan’s project of political-diplomatic settlement of Syrian crisis. The Russian side believes that this project is the only viable platform for the resolution of inter-Syrian problems," the message reads.
Note, that this is Annan’s had a second visit in the last four months.
To remind you, as a result of Syrian conflicts, going on from the March of 2011, according to different sources, about 15000 people died. Russia has repeatedly expressed its support for Annan’s peace plan, which foresees as the establishment of ceasefire by the government and the opposition, as well as an outset of political dialogue between the parties.
Meanwhile, in the UN Security Council, the Western countries are preparing a resolution project, threatening to apply sanctions against the Syrian government. Russia and China are against the sanctions, and it is expected that the latters will block the adoption of the resolution, which supposes sanctions.
