3507 Students have Been Admitted to YSU: YSU Rector

YSU rector Aram Simonyan in the meeting with journalists informed that the list of the students being admitted to YSU has been attached on July 15.
“Last year we had less admission to the first year- about 800 students. As a result of having less students in the paid system, the high educational institutions received less finance in the form of tuition fees.
This year the general number of the entrants was 18500 the 1/3 of which-5408 students, applied to YSU. The 381 students of 3507 will study in unpaid system, and the 3126 students in the paid system. The number of admitted students may be increased or decreased. In 2010, 3008 students have been admitted to YSU, so, in 2012 we registered increase in the number of students. Note, that a part of 12-year-school graduates will be called to army, and 238 students admitted to YSU will immediately depart for military service. And those inductee students who will pay the tuition fee before departing, after the military service will continue studying with the tuition fee stated in the contract. But it doesn’t mean that an increase in tuition fees is expected,” Aram Simonyan said.
According to him, university’s 81 vacant places include “Chemistry”, “Ecology”, “Biology”, “Biophysics”, “Geography”, “Church studies”, “Russian Philology” specializations.
“More successful results demonstrated students who have applied for German, Spanish and French language and literature.
Note, that it’s the first time when “Caucasus studies” will operate in YSU, where 50 students have been admitted, who, in the course of their education will study old Georgian, Azeri, and the culture and history of Caucasus people,” the rector mentioned, adding, that, in the specializations, being regarded as modern in the past, this year too, the passing border have been high.
According to him, the students, who applied to the faculty of journalism demonstrate incredibly high results: the highest score is 59, and the border of the paid system starts from 57. The students being admitted to the faculty of Oriental studies, as well had high results.
The highest 60 points was registered in specializations of “Law studies” and “German language and literature”. The rector informed that there are about 500 foreign students from Arabic countries, Iran, Europe and RF studying at YSU.
The highest tuition fee is 700000 AMD for the faculty of “Law” and the lowest tuition fee is for the students studying at the faculties of “Geology”, “Mechanics”, “Radiophysics”, “Russian language and literature”.
