Russia and China Turned away from Syrians: GB Minister of Foreign Affairs
World
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain William Haig named “unforgivable” the position of Russia and China, who put veto on UN Security Council resolution. BBC reports Haig’s words in the press conference in London as saying that Russia and China “turned away from the Syrian people at a very difficult period for them.” According o him after this step the reputation of Russia and China among the countries of East will suffer significantly.
It should be noted that on Thursday Russia and China vetoed resolution worked out by UN Security Council, which presupposes extension of sanctions against Syria’s President Bashar al-Asad’s government. In the SC of UK representatives of France and the USA in response declared that UNO wasn’t able to protect citizens of Syria.
Note, that today Syria’s President Bashar al-Asad at a solemn ceremony received the newly appointed Minister of Defense Fahad Jassim Al Freij’s inauguration. The ceremony, broadcasted by the national TV, finally denied recent day rumors that Asad escaped from the capital.
