Balasanyan Warns Vardan Ghukasyan

The atmosphere in Gyumri is rather alert: when it became known that candidate for mayor of PAP party is Samvel Balasanyan, and the nomination of the current mayor is under question, this tension became more obvious.
In press recently news was spread that Gyumri mayor’s son Spartak Ghukasyan with his car stood 30 meters away from Balasanyan’s house, swore, threatened and said, “ you won’t enjoy.”
Samvel Balasanyan informed Azatutyun radio station that he wasn’t at home at that moment, and witnesses told him about that.
“It seems that they try to create atmosphere of tension, but I’m just warning to avoid promoting tension, I’m just warning. It’s about the people, which I know want to create tension. Lots of rumors reach us, I’m just warning, I just put my candidacy for civil competition”, said Balasanyan.
To the question whether he met Serzh Sargsyan before the PAP statement of nominating his candidacy or not, Balasanyan replied, “We had a business meeting, there were rumors and all this coincided and all mass medias thought there was a problem of giving approval. At that moment even PAP didn’t suggest my candidacy.”
Balasanyan said it’s up to ARP to support him or not.
“Frankly speaking, it’s up to them to decide what ARP, Heritage, ANC or others will do, finally all of them got votes from here. Maybe they’ll support, I don’t know, you’d better ask them about that, but if something like this happens, new political culture will develop, which hasn’t been before , said he.”
