Below is the statement of “Freedom to the Congress Youth" Facebook Group:
Today, with the protest in front of the RA Prosecutor's Office, the civil society raises its protest against the accusing verdict, made on July 20, by the First Instance Court of Kentron and Nork Marash administrative regions. The court, sentenced ANC activists Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan to 2-6 years of imprisonment with false accusation. We qualify such a decision as dishonor, and it is a threat to every citizen of Armenia. Today we stand next to the young people and
DEMAND:
1. To justify the 4 activists of ANC - Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan
2. To free Tigran Araqelyan
3. To cut the proceeded criminal case against other young ANCs- Vahagn Gevorgyan, Sahak Muradyan and Areg Gevorgyan, which is still in the SIS files.
4. To punish the police officers who implemented violence against the young people and their lawyers.
5. To call to responsibility those police officers who gave false testimony and those officials who forced to false testimonies.
We are going to be consistent in the implementation of these requirements, and we call on all the political forces to join us, against the political persecution and for a fair Armenia. We also address to all the youth right defense organizations, to raise this issue to the international tribunals. Our protest won’t fall into silence, because each of us may appear in the same situation for his political and legal views. We call upon all citizens to participate in the protests.
