It’s Impermissible to Make Fortune Breaking in the Pockets of Refugees: A Protest of Shame against "Armavia"
Society
Today, many citizens are carrying a protest in front of the main office of "Armavia" Airlines, demanding to review the cost of Yerevan-Aleppo-Yerevan flight. It should be noted that parallel to the deterioration of Syria's domestic political situation, the number of Syrian-Armenians willing to settle down in Armenia is growing. And "Armavia" Airlines have raised the cost of the tickets of Yerevan-Aleppo-Yerevan flight
The demonstrators have posters, which read “Shame”
Civic activist Nvard Manasyan said. "I call the authorities of “Armavia”, which is considered national air-transporter.We have tolerated for years to have at least one national transporter. Now “Armavia” completely destroyed its being national. When our Syrian compatriots have big problems when are not able to come to Armenia, forgetting that they also national, they make fortune on the account of that people and their suffering. We call on you to understand what is national and since you have been protected from equal competitiveness, to serve with that advantage the Armenians. If now you don’t prove that you are national, we are no more in need of you. Tomorrow, let God prevent, if other problems occur, you absolutely won’t be able to participate in the solution of that problems. Why are you national? Why are you considered as national air-transporter for National Security. We demand to leave the stupid argumentation of market economy. We know that you are off the market and are protected. When seeing the condition of Syrian-Armenians you have to be humane. Where is your social responsibility? At present we have a real problem, and if you can’t conduct a real policy, let vanish your national status. Be called just “Armavia” and participate in the international rivalry in equal conditions.”
“Arabic airlines could raise the ticket costs as well, but their price fluctuation was little, because the words dignity and shame are comprehensible also in Arabic, but “Armavia” doesn’t possess them. Armenia went through many hard days- earthquake, war, economic collapse, and on that very days Diaspora Armenians have been by our sides. And if now we tolerate “Armavia”’s such behavior. It’l be ingratitude. “Armavia” is the only organization that responded to the Syrian incidents and thought that it’s "just" an appropriate moment to raise the ticket prices, and people will give their last cents to move their relatives to Armenia. It’s impermissible to make fortune breaking into the pockets of the refugees,” Apres Zohrabyan mentioned.
The demonstrators announced that they protest against “Armavia”’s any service, until the policy of the company is not changed.
“I feel obliged not to presume from such a undignified company as is “Armavia”
Note, that none of the “Armavia” representatives approached the participants of the protest.
