3248 Syrian-Armenian Applied for RA Citizenship

In the first six months of 2012 3248 Syrian citizens applied for citizenship, 2957 of which through RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 291 to RA Passport and Visa Department of Police.
As Pastinfo agency informs, 99 percent of the applicants are Armenians.
It is informed from Ministry of Territorial Administration of the State Migration Service that from the beginning of the year until July 26 Syrian-Armenian 18 families with 37 members applied with the request for refugee status in Armenia. All the applications have been satisfied. According to the same source, some part of Syrian-Armenians prefer staying in the apartments of friends, relatives and all the applications for the provision of shelter are satisfied by SMS.
To note, according to the RA Government decision of July 26 the process for visa application has been facilitated for Syrian-Armenians. They can receive entrance visa to Armenia not only in Syrian diplomatic representations but also at Armenia's border.
