Cases of Illegal Possession of Arms among Juveniles Increased

Today in the press conference, Nelly Duryan, Police Colonel, the head of the Juvenile Department, the Deputy Head of the 3rd Department of RA Police Criminal Investigations Chief Department, summarizing the first half of 2012, said: "We should record a good fact in these six months, since the number of crimes committed by juveniles, compared to the previous year, decreased by 61 and the number of individuals committing them, by 33."
According to the speaker, the main type of crime is property rapture, which is followed by cases of causing bodily injuries.
The number of serious bodily injuries has decreased by 8, drug usage cases- by 3.
Increase is recorded in cases of illegal possession of arms- it’s 8 instead of the previous year’s 1, mostly in the form of cold weapons, and 108 violence cases have been recorded instead of the previous year’s 83: 382 juveniles are accounted.
In response to Lurer.com’s question- what kind of works are done with the juveniles’ parents, Nelly Duryan said, that if it’s necessary to change the behavior of children, the police works with the parents, in case of necessity, parents are taken into account as well, and in rehabilitation community centers psychologists and pedagogues work with them. Besides the works carried out with parents, the police implements works at schools, kindergartens and their related parts.
