Armenian National Congress (ANC) showed that it is possible to form a serious opposition against this government. Armenian National Congress faction MP, former PM Hrant Bagratyan said in an interview with Lurer.com.
According to the latter, especially in 2008-2010 ANC was standing out with its economic projects, "with which, in this or that manner, the Government had to cope and even try to realize some points, but, of course, not implementing them till the end, distorting. ANC showed, that it has solutions to all the social-economic issues. There were both ups, and, recently everyone is speaking about downs, but I think, that there is a possibility, that ANC will return again on the eve of the presidential elections. Hawever, it is the force, and almost the only one, against which the government fights with all its strength. ANC, though, passed through that all, stood that all, despite some serious losses.”
In response to the journalist’s question, whether, by saying losses, the speaker means the parties, that abandoned ANC rows or not, Bagratyan said: “Everything: those who abandoned the Congress, the victims of March 1… Some people appeared in prison, some are imprisoned till now, some left ANC. However, life is the only one, and people have the right to deal with their lives the way they want.”
Bagratyan believes, that the entire state apparatus is engaged in the fight against ANC.
According to the former Prime Minister, ANC should become a unifying opposition.
Note, that the ANC is a proclaimed political force from August 1, 2008, which unites the 18 oppositional parties, supporting RA founding President Levon Ter- Petrosyan, in the presidential elections of 2008, as well as a number of other organizations and thousands of individuals participating in the national movement.
At present ANC includes 15 oppositional parties
