Armenia
Today environmentalist and lawyer Artur Grigoryan in the press conference, convened concerning the latest developments of Khosrov Reserve, reported, that they found out on the electronic website of the reserve, that the area of the reserve has been reduced with about 6000 hectares.
"The first page of Khosrov reserve website reads, that the reserve consists of 5 sections- Garni, Kakavaberd, Urtsi, Khosrov and Khachsar, the total area f which is 29.158 hectares. At the same time, we see on the first page of the same website, that at present the reserve consists of 4 sections, and Urtsi section has been removed from the reserve, leaving a total area of 23, 000 hectares. A question arises: how is the area of the reserve reduced by 6000 hectares? Who did remove Urtsi section from its status?” said Grigoryan.
He also mentioned, that it’s an essential issue to learn when the change occurred, and what status has the removed 6000 hectares of the reserve.
Arthur Grigoryan observed, that they don’t want to open up the quotes yet, because they do not possess complete information, however, according to him, the above mentioned area is not removed from the reserve area without any purpose.
"In the same area, which is called Urtsasar, belongs to one of the well-known oligarchs," said the environmentalist.
