RF Ministry of Defense: Russian Warship May Enter Syrian Tartus

Russian Defense Ministry declared that many landing ships of the country’s naval forces may enter Syrian Tartus port, BBC reports.
Although last week the commander of RF naval forces said that their Mediterranean Sea group won’t enter Tartus, since they have other objectives, today the opposite was announced.
Syrian opposition has repeatedly stated, that they are strongly against the entry of Russian warship to Syria, and that they see in it the danger of military assistance to Bashar al-Asaad from Russia.
However, the RF Ministry of Defense announced that the entry to Tartus port has nothing to do with Syria’s internal affairs, but aims to provide a material -technical support for the ships fighting against pirates of Caspian Sea.
