South African Oscar Pistorius, who has lost his both legs and runs on prostheses, beating many healthy runners in the 400 m race, took the 2nd place in the Olympic Games and got to the semifinal, BBC reports.
Oscar Pistorius is the first disabled athlete, who was allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. It was the result of the fact that the 25-year-old runner, who has lost his legs yet in his childhood, won in the Paralympic games for 4 times.
Note, that the athlete overcame the 400 meters in 45.44 seconds, and in the World Championship of 2011 he got to the semi-final.
