Leonid Yengibaryan’s Memorial Opening in Tsaghkadzor

Within the framework of the Third International Festival of Mime held in Tsaghkadzor, clown, Armenian circus actor, USSR people’s artist Leonid Yengibaryan’s memorial was opened. The opening was performed by RA Prime minister Tigran Sargsyan, and author of the sculpture is sculptor David Minasyan.
In his speech the sculptor stated that each artist needs two things: “Order and freedom, which I had. Leonid is one of those characters carving of which was a pleasure.”
Director of Yerevan State Pantomime Theater Zhirayr Dadasyan in an interview with reporters said that Leonid Yengibaryan is the character, which is loved both by elders and by children.
“He is unique for our history and our nation, as during his all lifetime Leonid preached love, kindness, light. Today, more than ever, we have the need for that spiritual appeal, which brings our Leonid to us with his flight”, said Dadasyan.
Tsaghkadzor city mayor Garun Mirzoyan stated that it’s a great honor for Tsaghkadzor city residents to organize such a festival and host so many guests.
“International Festival of Mime isn’t possible to imagine without our Leonid and his art. Opening of the memorial is our greatest tribute to our great actor”, said Garun Mirzoyan.
At the end of the festival Director of Yerevan circus after Leonid Yengibaryan suggested that one of Yerevan streets should be called after the artist.
