NSS looking for a black cat in dark room?
ARCHIVE
Today the government approved the bill of NSS on changing and making additions on RA law of “refugees and asylum”. Accordingly, asylum allocation will be refused if the one requesting for asylum will present any danger to RA national security according to NSS conclusion.
The bill, which from the first sight seems quite normal, arises a range of questions. Particularly, why especially now the danger was realized? Lots of Syrian-Armenian refuges are sheltering in Armenia. How does the choice of the moment of legislative initiative arise from this consequence? First, how should that “possible” be decided and won’t this supposed restriction obstacle sheltering of our compatriots? Third, how is the initiative connected with fight against international terrorism and the fact of existence of the so-called “black list” countries?
We tried to get clarification from NSS press officer, but Mr Artsvin Baghramyan was in his words on vacation and suggested to pose these questions in written form to the office manager, which we’ll probably do.
Parliament head of legal department also found it not expedient to touch upon the issue.
Especially Armenia's Migration Agency Head Mr. Gagik Yeganyan’s nervous respond was astonishing. Without listening to the questions, Yeganyan said, “If there is threat on you and me, what should they do?” To our question what danger he is talking about, Mr Yeganyan didn’t reply and hung up.
Responsibles for the area should be reminded once more – there are more dangerous things and people in Armenia, than a diaspora Armenian, which probably won’t present any danger to RA security, but until Armenia’s NSS studies him from top to bottom, won’t let him shelter.
