NATO Secretary General to visit Armenia

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Anders Fogh Rasmussen will visit Armenia on September 5-6, reports Armenpress making reference to RA MFA. NATO’s Secretary General will meet RA President Serzh Sargsyan, MFA Eduard Nalbandyan and MoD Seyran Ohanyan.
There is no information yet in NATO’s official website on this. According to the same source, Armenia and NATO actively cooperate in issues of democratic, institutional and military amendments and business relations cover other spheres including peacekeeping missions. The Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) indicates edges of cooperation between Armenia and NATO as well as defines a wide scope of amendments. Armenia wants to aggravate business and political cooperation with NATO, but doesn’t try to join NATO. Armenia actively takes part in NATO’s peacekeeping missions in ISAF. Armenian forces are now located in Afghanistan as a part of international security support forces, as well as in KFOR on the occasion of which Rasmusen thanked RA President on March 6, 2012.
