“Azerbaijan’s decision to grant pardon and release a killer of Armenian officer contradicts norms of International Law, questions the interstate system's capability of fighting crime,” Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) secretary-general Nikolai Bordyuzha noted, reports the organization’s official website.
This step, which has obviously been taken out of political conjuncture goals, can’t be justified in any way. Moreover, making a hero of a criminal can promote making situation more tense in the region. I’m sure, international public won’t hurry to give its objective estimation on the occasion,” announced Bordyuzha.
To note, Azerbaijan’s felon officer Ramil Safarov axed Armneia’s officer Gurgen Margaryan while sleeping in Budapest on February 19, 2004. The officers were participating English language courses within the framework of NATO’s Peace and Partnership program. Hungary’s court sentenced Ramil Safarov to life in prison without the right to pardon at the first 30 years of his sentence.
