Armenia
President Serzh Sargsyan received NATO’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen today, which is on a working visit in Armenia. After the meeting Serzh Sargsyan and head of North-Atlantic Treaty Organization appeared with a joint press conference.
“Armenia’s cooperation level with the Treaty let Armenia bring its investment to international security system,” S.Sargsyan said. He touched upon “Partnership for peace” framework program, which registers that defense and strengthening of basic freedom and human rights, provision of liberty and justice and confirmation of peace through democracy are key values to the partnership.
“But unfortunately, we witnessed rude undermining of the above mentioned principles,” the President said. He assured that in this situation no one has the moral right to keep silence, to ignore it. “The so-called political correctness of international public to serve as a basis for Azerbaijan’s outrageous behavior and its actions,” he said.
NATO’s Secretary General described the event as “awful and terrifying” and announced that it shouldn’t be glorified. “When I meet Azerbaijan’s President, I’m going to transfer only one message to him: I’m deeply concerned with Azerbaijan’s decision on extradition of the murderer, as this decision doesn’t contribute trust,” Rasmussen said. According to him “There shouldn’t be return to conflict, it’s necessary to spread peace and establish cooperation.”
