Holydaymakers looking for lions on a South African safari found a predator of a different kind - when they discovered a snake hiding in their car bonnet, The Sun reports.
The couple on holiday in Kruger National Park when a 16ft-long python shot out of the grass and disappared under their car.
When the stubborn snake refused to reappear Marlene, 38 and Leon, 51, both from Brits, South Africa were forced to endure a three-mile journey to the nearest look-out with the python hitching a ride.
And when they arrived, a crowd looked on as the relieved couple managed to coax the cheeky reptile out of the engine.
The African Rock Python is South Africa’s largest snake with females growing up to 16ft-long and males up to 14ft.
They rarely kill humans, but the nonvenomous snake is widely feared and kills by constriction.
