RA ambassador meets Lebanon’s President

Armenia’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Ashot Kocharyan, on September 10 was received by Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, during which they discussed bilateral ties, Armenian MFA informs.
Specifically, they underscored the close cooperation within international organizations, and stressed the need for conducting high-level bilateral official visits and invigorating economic ties.
Also, Armenia’s ambassador presented President Suleiman details on Hungary’s extradition of Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan, and his being pardoned and declared a hero in that country. Ambassador Kocharyan also informed that Armenia suspended its diplomatic ties with Hungary over this incident, numerous countries and international organizations condemned this shameful Hungarian-Azerbaijani arrangement, and the Diaspora Armenians staged demonstrations.
President Suleiman expressed an understanding with respect to this matter and, also, expressed a hope that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks will continue.
In addition, the Lebanese president asked the Ambassador to convey his hearty congratulations to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in connection with the Armenian national team’s triumph at the World Chess Olympiad.
On the same day, Armenia’s Ambassador to Lebanon also met with Lebanese National Assembly Speaker Nabih Berri, during which details were likewise presented on the aforementioned Hungarian-Azerbaijani arrangement.
In addition, Ambassador Kocharyan informed Speaker Berri about the Armenian National Assembly’s (NA) special session that was convened on September 5, and in connection with this development, and presented to Berri the respective statement which NA adopted.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also underscored the need to expand the cooperation between Armenia and Lebanon.
