Meeting of Saakashvili and Ivanishvili is over: unexpected statements have been made from both sides

The meeting of Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili and head of Georgian Dream coalition which won in parliamentary elections Bidzina Ivanishvili was over in Tbilisi’s President’s Palace. It lasted for an hour and a half.
Ivanishvili spoke first at the meeting with reporters, which announced that the party will appear only in name of democracy.
“Today’s meeting is a part of the healthy policy, which avow I and my group in Georgia’s politics. Te fact, that we realized change of authority in Georgia’s independent history is reply to dirty activities of our opponents. I call on everyone to treat our enemies like it worths our country, our history and our culture,” Ivanishvili pointed out.
He informs, that sides discussed general domestic political condition.
“They especially coincide with Georgia’s EU and NATO aspirations,” said Ivanishvili. “It’s great that we could meet, we should prove, that we’re a civilized nation and we can live in democratic atmosphere with our opponents.”
He appreciated statements which have been made by Saakashvili just after parliamentary elections.
In his turn Saakashvili pointed out, that Georgia is living a historical process, when authority is handed to opposition democratically.
“We give majority of functions to the government in a peaceful way, which is done for the first time in the region. Georgia’s people made a choice and we respect their choice.”
We need to preserve democracy and reach to the point that after that elections also were democratic. I, as a President and everyone will defend the rights of our citizens,” Saakashvili stated.
Ivanishvili informed, that he intends to take the position of the PM.
