Upon the invitation of the Yerevan mayor, the world-renowned Russian ballet dancer, Anastasia Volochkova, was hosted at the City hall on Thursday.
Welcoming the guest, Mayor Taron Margaryan thanked her for accepting the invitation, noting that her performance in Yerevan is seen as a part and continuation of the Erebuni-Yerevan 2794 celebrations.
“It is really a pleasure to us to host you in our ancient city right after the capital day celebrations. It is a good opportunity for you to feel the festive spirit of Yerevan. I hope you have already managed to admire Yerevan’s beauty and make sure that you are an expected and appreciated guest in our hospitable city,” Margaryan said, adding that the celebrated Russian dancer’s Yerevan performance will find its unique reflection in the capital city’s cultural life.
Thanking the mayor for the invitation and warm reception, Volochkova said that she really met a warm welcome by the Yerevan audience. The merited dancer noted that being in Yerevan six years after her first visit, she really enjoyed with the city’s unrecognizably enhanced appearance.
“I can assure you, Mr mayor, that I am really pleased [with my visit]. Yerevan has become very beautiful, for which I am cordially happy as I consider myself a good friend of the Armenian nation. Moreover, having many Armenian friends, I do not absolutely feel an alien here and would like to visit your wonderful country more frequently upon having a chance,” Volochkova said, expressing her desire to be better involved in Armenian cultural programs.
Profiting by the occasion, she discussed with the mayor the possibility of holding a master class for the Yerevan State Choreographic College students. Hailing the idea, Mayor Margaryan instructed the relevant officials at the municipality to consider the plan and organize the event within the shortest possible time limits.
