Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan invites guests from other CIS countries to Armenia’s sports capital Gyumri
WorldDeputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan of Armenia participated in the Meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of Government, in Moscow.
Also, Grigoryan delivered an address at the aforesaid meeting, the government of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. The deputy premier stressed, in particular, the cooperation in culture, and emphasized that in 2024, the Armenian city of Gyumri will receive the honorary status of the CIS sports capital, which will open its doors to all those from the other CIS member countries who wish to participate in upcoming sports events and get acquainted with the cultural heritage of the "city of masters."
The deputy premier added that during the eighteenth session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, a decision was made to put Gyumri's blacksmithing tradition on the list of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
