Germany's Scholz rebuffs suggestion of sending ground troops to Ukraine
ForeignReuters. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday (February 27) ruled out suggestions that European countries and NATO alliance members would send ground troops to Ukraine, a day after French President Emmanuel Macron had left open the prospect of doing so.
"Once again, in a very good debate, it was discussed that what was agreed from the outset among ourselves and with each other also applies to the future, namely that there will be no ground troops, no soldiers on Ukrainian soil sent there by European countries or NATO states," Scholz said on the sidelines of an event in southern Germany.
